Indian Squad Finalized for Nidahas Trophy 2018

The Nidahas Trophy is an event that is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in March 2018. This tournament will be played in order to mark the 70th year since Sri Lanka gained Independence. The BCCI has made it known the 15-man squad for Nidahas Trophy. The team's captain is Rohit Sharma who is assisted by Shikhar Dhawan the vice-captain.

Captain Rohit Sharma is known for his impressive captaincy skills. As a matter of fact, he captained the Mumbai Team in 2013 where he led the team to the three titles of the IPL. As for his qualities, Rohit is known to be a fighter and has a unique ability to stay calm even in tough situations. These are what make him the perfect leader of this team. In the field, he has great bowling skills and field placement which makes him a very key player if India is to win. Many believe that he will get better as he plays the matches as captain and is the best replacement that the team could get in place of Kohli, the outgoing captain.

Shikhar Dhawan is perfect as the vice captain considering his experience and great play. It is the first time he has been appointed as the vice captain for the national team. We all hope that he can prove he is worth the position and wish him the very best.

The team selected missed common names like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar and Hardik Pandya. These have been replaced by new promising talents. Deepak Hooda, for instance, managed 150 points in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Washington Sundar is perfect at batting which makes him an indispensable element in the team. Other new additions to the team include Muhammad Siraj, l Vijay Shankar and Rishabh Pant.

Among those retained in the squad are Dinesh Karthik (wk), Manish Pandey and Suresh Raina who will be hoping to impress and show that they indeed deserve to be in there. Others on the team are Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, KL Rahul and Jaydev Unadkat.

According to the president of the selection committee, this team was selected with the heavy workload and tight schedule that will come in the days to come. He says that Dhoni requested to be rested. He said that the aim was to give adequate rest to the team’s fast bowlers so as to improve their performance and prevent injury.
